Ford and America’s most popular vehicle, the F-150 pick up truck has been revamped for 2009. There are more features offered and an increase in horsepower with a greater choice of engines. Two versions of a 4.6-liter V8 will be offered along with a 5.4 V8 and a 6.2 V8. The 5.4-liter V8 will be a Bi-Fuel or Flex-Fuel vehicle capable of running on E85 ethanol-blended fuel and is likely to be the most popular choice for American Car Imports customers in the UK and Europe.
New for 2009 will be The Raptor, an off-road themed model that will be powered by a 380-hp 6.2-liter V8. The Raptor will get a special off-road tuned suspension and is developed by Fords Special Vehicle Team. A 4-speed automatic transmission is available with the base 4.6, and a 6-speed automatic transmission is available for the up level 4.6, as well as the 5.4 and 6.2.
Both 2-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive versions will be offered. All 4WD versions will have a choice of manual or electronic 4WD selection. Safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and side curtain airbags. There will be eight different trim levels for the 2009 F150, XL, STX, off-road themed FX4 and Raptor, midlevel XLT, up level King Ranch and Lariat, and top of the range Platinum.

Regular Cab, Super Cab, and Super Crew Cabs will be available, along with four pickup box sizes and styles. The XL will have 17-inch wheels as standard whilst the other models will have 18 or 20inch wheels. The Platinum will have the 20 inch wheels as standard. New options will include a hideaway side step for access to the pickup bed, a tailgate step, a bed extender, a cargo management system to secure items in the bed, and lockable storage. Other available features may include a cap less fuel filler, Ford's Sync voice-activated cell phone and MP3 player control system, a voice-activated navigation system that includes real-time traffic information, a rear view camera, and Premium audio system, American Car Imports can install similar systems for UK customers to incorporate UK and European Satellite Navigation.

Gear changes are improved with an available six-speed automatic transmission. A new frame that is lighter yet improves torsional rigidity by 10% over the out going model. The interior cabin accommodation of the Super Crew has been increased by nearly 6 inches with an upgrade in the quality of the materials used and the detail of the finish offers a truly up-market feel to this best selling vehicle.
